Pumpkin Bagels

I had left over pumpkins in my freezer so decided to use them up. I love using pumpkins because they have a neutral taste and add extra nutrients in my cooking and baking!

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1.5 tsp dry yeast
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup of pumpkin
  • sesame seeds (optional)

Start off by activating the yeast. Add the sugar and yeast to the water. Let sit for 10 minutes till it starts to bubble.

After 10 minutes add dry ingredients. Bread flour, cinnamon and salt, Knead the dough till it is smooth.

Greece a bowl with oil then add the kneaded dough. Let rise for about 2 hours.

Next shape them into bagels and let rise for a 2nd time for 30 minutes.

Boil in 1/4 cup of brown sugar and water. 30 seconds each side.

Add some sesame seeds to the bagels if you like.

Preheat the oven to 450 F and bake for 15 minutes.

Let me know if you made them. They are chewy and a great alternative to store bought bagels!
